And so continuing their array of excellent releases, ZeECc records have once again produced what might be their deepest release yet.

Grad_U and Mr. Cloudy take the helm on this one for more of that familiar, yet new deep dubby goodness.

If you’re in to your dub-techno then best be sure to take note of this label and what they’re doing. Every release is a winner!

The French dub-techno advocates ZeECc have done it again!

2 more excellent releases have been released from Inn-R and Mr Cloudy to add to their growing roster of intelligent dub-techno.

Inn-R’s release is a three-track outing in to dub-techno, with a fairly high-energy feel. Definately erring on the side of techno, more than dub – but there’s still the inherant sweeps and chords associated with the sub-genre.

MrCloudy’s release, which in my opinion is the stronger of the two – is definately more relaxed. Letting the dub elements flow while the muted bassdrum walks you though parks and avenues. For me, this EP is reminiscent of the likes of Quantec or BVDub both of which I’m sure I’ve mentioned previously on SO.

I suppose a great deal of dub techno is similar sounding, and as a result has a tendancy to be forgettable – but at the very least you should check these two releases from ZeECc – and take note of the label, as it sounds as if they’re most definately on the money with their future forthcomings.

Both EPs were released on 17th June, on ZeECc records

Upwellings – Dubism EP [ZeECc Records ECc003]

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Swirling dub-techno and finely-tuned beats are what makes the new Dubism EP from Upwellings so atention-grabbingly beautiful.

Following on from DJ Axs’s Moment to Dub EP on ZeECc, the Dubism EP continues with what you might expect from the French label.

Well crafted, deep and altogether rather lovely dub-techno which is most definately worth your cash. If you’re a fan of the likes of Quantec, Leo Cavallo, or perhaps more ambient stuff like Echospace/Deepchord or bvdub – then I expect there’ll be plenty on offer here for you to enjoy.

Upwellings seems to be gathering a decent momentum too, with releases on deepindub.org, Schall-Netlabel and Klique already.

You can preview the tracks, and purchase them for an altogether rather reasonable sum here.

Dj AXS – Moment To Dub EP

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

A swirling, swelling intro and a beautiful synth line start this brand new EP from Dj AXS. Hailing from France, his excellent blend of dub-techno and minimal beats sit perfectly together on this 6-track effort from ZeECc records [ECc002]

Have a listen here – http://www.myspace.com/zeecc (Moment To Dub & Section tracks.)

Notion of Space had me hooked from the outset, although my only issue was that aside from all the swelling, ebbing and flowing – the track felt like it could have broken out in to some insane stormer of a track at any moment, but never quite reached that breaking point.

Undead Line take s asimilar approach with swelling sounds, this time on a more electronic/tech tip and slightly more ambient. The addition of a sub in this one gives it the edge, and the whole thing reminds me of Quantec, which is my books is always good.

Rechorder [Arome] is the thrid ambient outing, and this EP is reminding me more and more of the much loved “Special Love” album put out by Kaito as a beatless supplement to the Special Life album.

Section takes on a more sinister approach with the Basic Channel strain of dub-techno vibes throughout and some top-end percussion to keep you moving.

The title track Moment to Dub is another beautful swirling track, and the final track; a remix of Rechorder is equally welcome here.

I’d actually go out of my way to reccomend this to anyone feeling the dub-techno vibes these days. This one is well worth a peek, and I’d hope that nobody was disappointed.
