Σ​-​Fly’s “Tides EP” is a work of beauty. it’s washing sounds, delicate piano chords and lush melody make me wish I could produce music as gorgeous as this. It’s most certainly going to be going straight on the mp3 player, and I expect this one will be part of my soundtrack as I tour the USA this Summer.

Aside from 3 EP releases, Broken Bubble have recently released “We Can Build You” a rather epic 14 track compilation, all for the grand sum of FREE!

Featuring Blood Boy, Cogidubnus, Duskky, Hurtdeer, Macka, Second Line, Sorrow and Wagawaga this is most certainly a compilation not to be missed. Especially for those who like their dubstep and bass music a little left of centre.

As one of the Manchester heads, Versa has caught my attention and has been producing amazing stuff for a while now. I get the feeling he’s set for very big things, so I’d get on this free track from him rapid!

“Here is a collection of tracks I made between 2005 and 2008. Some were given away back in the day but weren’t around for long. The earlier dated pieces are some of my very first attempts at 140ish bass music, so please don’t expect anything too pristine or polished. All tracks are un-mastered and as raw as the day they were bounced down.

They’ve been sat on my hard-drive not doing much for a while now, so I thought I would share them with the world.”

“Some weeks ago, I finished working on the music for a Nissan GT-R commercial produced by Daniel Michaelis and his team at Format67 (www.format67.net). The movie got some good responses by fans of the Nissan GT-R and/or other car-enthusiasts all over the globe and the requests regarding the music came in one after another. So finally, Daniel came asking for an extended version of the songs I produced exclusively for the spot – and here we go…

The free download consists of two tracks, “Through The Night” from the nightdriving scenes in the movie and “On Track”, a forward thinking, harsh breakbeat from the racing scenes. I hope you enjoy!”

Musically this is a very cohesive mix of tracks that are all original productions in their own right, but also flow together well as an album piece. One can only assume this was the intention.

Both interesting to listen to, and enjoyable to have on, this is a cracking release, and one that I was happy to part with some cash for. However for those less inclined to support the burgeoning scene, and struggling artists, Vax has kindly put this up on a “pay what you like” scheme, meaning that not only can you tame your guilty conscience and get some feel-good factor – you can also let Vax know directly, how you feel about his music!

I was alerted to this great EP recently, by Sam, the producer behind Ice Cream Social himself. Hailing from Irvine California he claims to (in his own words) “incorporate emotion and melody into a pop electronic format.” Lately he says he’s been drawing more inspiration from both shoegaze and bass music, which in my books makes for an excellent combination.

So without further ado, I give you his latest free EP “Trilogy” available to download for free at Bandcamp.

I’m not sure about blowing anything off, but this is a fine collection of re-works. Loving the artwork too.

Lost in a Moment by Subreachers

His style (based on this EP) covers deep and dub-tech style dubstep. Lots of great sounds, reverbed-out with some great percussion work and some lovely textures. Showing competance with an MC and weightier bass tones on the track Selftaught too.

He has just released 2 generously sized EPs through Bandcamp on a “pay what you like” system. it’s a payment system made popular by Radiohead, but more recently has been popular with a lot of independent artists and smaller labels.

In his own words, Dean says “…the majority of these songs have been pulled from various labels and projects over the last three years, for one reason or another. Nearly all of them have been supported by some of the biggest DJs in dubstep. All these songs were written over the last three years, with ‘Doodlebug’ being the oldest (2007) and ‘BC3’ the most recent (about two months ago). These are just songs I still love and feel connected to, and strongly believe in.”

I’d suggest you all go and listen to the tracks, then sort him out with some generous dollar in exchange for some bloody excellent music.
