Isotroph – Eclosion EP [F4T Records F4T13]

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

F4T Records are venturing in to deep dub-techno territory with their thirteenth release. The Eclosion EP, by Isotroph is an excellent example of deep, swirling, eveloping dub-techno.

After The Moon is an absolutely epic track, starting from almost nothing and building to a pulsing heartbeat.

Biotope takes a more techno/house based approach, but is equally satisfying when that beat kicks in.

Genese sits with Biotope as a more techno led number. The bass takes more of a front-row on this one, as it pushed the track towards a driving climax.

Right – that’s enough description – Get over to www.soundcloud.com/isotroph and check his stuff out.

The three release tracks are here…

Then go buy the release when it surfaces!

Dave Wesley – Merkaba Sessions Alpha EP

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Mr Wesley has certainly been busy since we last featured him on SittingOvation. With a number of other releases out on Arctic Dub he’s been working hard to bring us all that sweet dub-ambient and dub-techo sound.

His latest EP “Merkaba Sessions Alpha” is available on Bandcamp right now, and I have to say I’m still as impressed now as I was a year back when I first came across his stuff.

I suggest you take a trip over to his Bandcamp page now and check out his latest offerings!

Leo Cavallo – Magma 09 [EXCLUSIVE FREE DOWNLOAD]

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

So after Rhythmicon’s excellent “Solstice Dub” last week, I’d like to bring you a dub-techno download you’ll not find anywhere else!

Leo Cavallo – Magma 09

Stream a 128k preview…

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Download the track here (right click & save target as)

I don’t want to give too much away, but Leo’s “Magma 09″ is a beautiful progressive masterpiece which builds, swells and shimmers from nothing in to something brilliantly driving where subtle melodies slide in and out of the track and the whole track really takes you on a journey.

You can find out more about Leo from a previous post where I highlighted his work, and you can also get yourself some of his kickdrums for free here.

Dave Wesley & Arctic Dub Records

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

I was recently notified about David Wesley’s productions, following my new direction with the blog, and was pleasantly surprised to find some excellent work on his website.

Not only was there a number of tracks to stream, but there was also the option to download some tracks (albeit 128k through bandcamp, but the option for higher qualities and different formats was there if you wanted to part with a wee bit of cash.

His stuff seems to sit very firmly in the dub-techno genre, but have less of the constant hypnotic beat of the likes of Quantec or the Modern Love lot, and don’t seem to be as washy and beatless as Severence, they have similar elements to both sides of the sound, but feel slightly more leftfield. There’s more of a slow, stepping beat on a number of his productions, and there’s often a few more interesting sounds and samples introduced which takes away slightly from the ambience element, and keeps the sound interesting.

Check his stuff out – My favourites from the page are “Circuits of Iapetus” and “Hyperdimensional Hexagon” from the Inverted Pyramids EP.

Severence

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

I don’t know much about Severence. I know he’s from Spain (Murcia according to his MySpace page)

There’s a chance that he looks a bit like this…

Which was taken from his MySpace pictures, so it’s him or someone he knows!

But what is very clear about Severence is his love for ambient, ethereal dub-techno, IDM and chill. His website boasts an array of mixes featuring the likes of Echospace, Yagya, Quantec, Gas, Pole, Bvdub, Robert Henke and such purveyors of the deep dub-techno side of things.

Severence’s own productions (which you can hear on his MySpace) have also been released through Shoreless Recordings on their “Selected Moments I” compilation, of which there are only 100 odd in existence. But I urge you to scour discogs and ebay for a copy – from what I’ve read and heard it’s truly exquisite.

His own productions have the same sweeping, washing highly-crafted synth sounds, over subtle 4-4 beats and filtered noise pads that got me hooked on Quantec’s (Sven Schienhammer) productions, and it was in fact through Quantec that I discovered Severence. I don’t know how familiar they are with each other’s work – but I’d expect them to have at least spoken, what with being label-mates an’ all. Quantec is a whole new post however, so I’ll save that for now.

I really just wanted to highlight this artist, and reccomend checking out his range of mixes – all downloadable through his site.
