DJ Madd – New Beats and a free track!

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Having been furiously producing for the past few months, following his incredible “Numbers” release on Jamie Vista’s “Boom Bap Records” – DJ madd returns to us with a bit of an update.

There are a handful of new tracks on his MySpace – including my personal favourite “Why” due on Tube10 soon.

And as well as this, he’s provided us with a free 320. You can’t say fairer than that!

Download DJ Madd – “Tonight” here.

In his own words Tonight is “a smoother garagey vibe track for your listening pleasure“.

My money’s on this Hungarian newcomer! (Not to mention the fact that he’s going to be remixing one of the tracks from the forthcoming DFRNT – “Metafiction” album)

Desto – Bounce / Past / Nightwalker [BOOM02]

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

It’s still very rare for me to get through a DJ set these days without including BoomBap Record’s first release from DJ Madd – “Numbers” – and so it was going to be very unlikely that Vista’s label and their second release would pass me by particularly quickly in the future.

That future has come around, and we’re presented with brand new deepness from Finland’s very own Desto. Hot on the heels of his Big Up magazine promo mix (mp3), he’s put out a 3-track vinyl on BoomBap, and what a cracker it is.

Bounce, Past and Nightwalker all ooze with the sexiness of Madd’s “Numbers” but add further depth and importance to the label.

Well produced, intelligent dubstep, with echoes of ambience, elements of bass, and some beautiful space within the mix. Not to mention the layers of percussion that all three tracks seem to effortlessly contain.

My own highlight is the “Nightwalker” track for it’s sheer depth and ambience – although for DJing, I’d tend towards the A-side Bounce which is more likely to hold the crowd.

You can buy Desto’s release here from Chemical.
