It’s long been known that the mystery of a producer or artist seems to be paramount and inversely proportional to their success. The discerning music listener likes to uncover things, and the challenge of the whodunnit-style musician hunt seems to fuel their sound, and contribute to their styling.

One such mysterious artist, producer (or indeed group of producers) to have surfaced recently is Akkord. With just a Facebook page, a Soundcloud and a Tumblr, Akkord’s presence is minimal. Just three tracks have surfaced thus far, and so far support has largely (almost suspiciously!) come from Synkro, Indigo and their cohorts in Manchester. Based on that fact alone, it’s almost certain that Akkord is set for a rather large 2012.

The recent appearance of an “Akkord.001″ announcement has caught my ear, and I expect will most certainly strike a chord with a number of others. Due soon on limited white 12″ vinyl, I presume this one will be the first big excitement of 2012, and no doubt pave the way for numerous other releases.
