Essay – Morning Mountain [Glyph]

Essáy, the German ambient-house wonderchild has released an EP on new label Glyph, and as expected it’s all rather lovely.

Glyph is a new label set up by a couple of the fine chaps at Domino (although it’s not affiliated with Domino, I should note) to promote “new and exciting forms of electronic music and new producers”. Something that I’ve seen and heard before many times, but few labels have had me convinced from the word “go” like Glyph have.

Enlisting the incredibly talented Simon Schilling AKA Essáy for their first release, they’re setting a high standard from the offset. His track Morning Mountain, plus a radio edit, and another track Cold Mountain are on offer here, and as expected if you’re familiar with his work (which you should be) it’s all blissful, deep, ambient house stylings.

You may recognise the name and production values of Essáy from his Cut release, which was one of our first releases on the label.

So if the above video isn’t enough to tantalise you in to pursuing this release today (Bleep, iTunes), then maybe his free “Distance & Lights EP” from Cut will be! If it’s any help, the EP managed to get him listed in the top downloads of 2011 over on XLR8R (number 49!). No mean feat, I can assure you.

I should also say – I love Essáy’s own piece of art for the Morning Mountain track on Soundcloud:
